There is no better way to get into the swing of things than to take a step back and look at the etymology of our famous caftans....<\/p>\n

I have a scoop for you! Did you know that the caftan<\/a><\/span> was a garment for men? And yes, stealing clothes from our male rim is not new!<\/p>\n

Let's have a look at some history....<\/p>\n

Originating from ancient Persia, the caftan was originally a tunic worn by men and then adopted by women in Morocco.<\/p>\n

Almost all Arab countries, with the exception of Morocco, were territories under the rule of the Ottoman Empire for several centuries.<\/p>\n

Following the departure of the Andalusians to the Maghreb, they brought with them caftans, which will not, however, the same developments and influences as in Morocco.<\/p>\n

Thanks to trade and especially to the flow of fabrics coming from the four corners of the world and transformed into works of art by our creators, the caftan becomes the outfit reincarnating elegance, it becomes the outfit par excellence to wear during an evening.<\/p>\n

Indeed, about 100 years ago, the caftan was popularized and worn with various matching jewels and especially with the famous \"mdamma\" (coordinated belt).<\/p>\n

Mostly made of gold and characterized by a \"fakroune\" (turtle) in the center supposed to bring happiness and protect from the evil eye (to whom wants to believe lol).<\/p>\n

The caftans are defined by various common points, they are long and often ample, straight or slightly flared, with long or half-long sleeves, without collar or hood and open in their middle thanks to a sfifa, strewn or not, on all the length of buttons.<\/p>\n
